Maskan Privacy Policy
Maskan is an iOS app that helps you follow along in crochet and knitting patterns. The app is developed by Papaja AB. If you have questions about this policy or your data, email ebba@papaja.se.
What data is handled
- Account details. When you create an account, your email address is stored (and your name, if you sign in with Apple or Google and choose to share it). Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.
- Your patterns and progress. Patterns you import (text, PDFs, and photos of pattern pages) and your progress are saved to your account so they follow you between devices.
- Camera photos. If you photograph pattern pages, the photos are used only to read the pattern and are stored in your account together with it. The app never accesses your photo library unless you pick an image yourself.
Where data is stored
Patterns and progress are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage) in the EU (europe-west region). The app also works offline: everything is saved locally on your device first and synced when you are online.
AI interpretation of patterns
When you import a pattern, the pattern text and any PDFs/photos are sent via our server (Cloudflare) to Anthropic's AI service, which interprets the pattern for you. Under Anthropic's API terms, submitted content is not used to train their models. The server also keeps a simple daily counter per account to limit the number of imports. No pattern content is stored on the server.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No tracking and no third-party analytics.
- Your data is never sold or shared, beyond the service providers named above (Google Firebase, Cloudflare, Anthropic), who process it on the app's behalf.
Deletion and your rights
You can delete individual patterns in the app at any time, or delete your entire account under Profile. This removes the account and all stored patterns and progress. Under the GDPR you also have the right to request a copy, correction, or deletion of your data: email ebba@papaja.se.

If this policy changes, this page and the date above will be updated.
